NYSC Osun Witnesses The Dawn Of A New Reign

 

The NYSC Osun State has welcomed a new dawn as it witnessed the handing over ceremony of the outgoing State Coordinator  Mrs Winifred Ngozi Shokpeka to her successor Mrs Olayinka Alidat Abdulwahab on Monday, 30th May at the Secretariat complex in Osogbo.

During the ceremony witnessed by the management and staff of the Scheme in the State, the outgoing  State Coordinator, Mrs Winifred Shokpeka expressed her heartfelt gratitude to members of staff for extending a good hand of friendship which culminated in the success recorded during her tenure  in office. She urged them to extend such to her successor.

“I appreciate the Director  General, Brig. Gen. MK Fadah and the entire NYSC Management  for the sheer privilege of serving as the NYSC State Coordinator in Osun for the past 7months. I salute the strength of the entire staff for their ever available support from the day my tenure began up till now. I couldn’t have done this without them. I’m not leaving with regrets, I am leaving a fulfilled woman” she stated.

She urged members of staff to work in synergy with the new State Coordinator and also strengthen all existing relationships and partnerships built over the years and those built while she was in office. 

According to her, the mantle has indeed been passed to another noble, capable and seasoned administrator who she knows will run with the vision of the Scheme in the State. She concluded by wishing her successor the very best as she steps in as the 14th Chief Executive of the State. 

 

In her brief remarks, the new State Coordinator, Mrs Abdulwahab Olayinka, said she was happy with the reception accorded her as she entered the Secretariat and this has encouraged her and has given her assurance that she is at home.

“I love the warm reception I received the moment I stepped my foot here. I have indeed been joyfully embraced. I pray that the love and support remains even as we work  together. 

"I look forward to the cooperation and support from all staff so we can all together build on the legacies of my predecessors and continue to record good success for the Scheme in the State," she added.

The Erstwhile Coordinator in her efforts to familiarize  the new State Coordinator with  major stakeholders in the State accompanied Abdulwahab  to the office of the Commissioner of Police  Osun State Command, CP Olawale Olokode who  promised to extend the cordial working relationship that has been established with the Scheme and the outgoing State Coordinator to her as she takes over the leadership of the Scheme in the State. 

The duo also visited the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon Azeez Olayemi Lawal, who doubles as the Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board in his office. The Acting Permanent Secretary, Mrs Oladunjoye who welcomed them on behalf of the Commissioner, eulogized the outgoing State Coordinator for her excellent performance during her tenure in the State and warmly welcomed Abdulwahab to Osun State wishing her a fruitful and successful tenure

in the State. 

She assured Abdulwahab of the Commission support and committment to the welfare of Corps Members serving in the State.  She urged her to emulate her predecessor, assuring her that she would not regret her tenure as NYSC Coordinator in the State as the State is a land of 'virtues.'

It will be recalled that the Erstwhile Coordinator, Mrs Winifred Shokpeka took over as the 13th Chief Executive 11th October, 2021.

Stay Away From Reno - Charles Awuzie Warns Peter Obi

 

"Whoever knows Peter Obi should advise him to stay away from RENO. I saw through this guy many years ago but nobody believed me. This guy operates with DEEP serpentine intelligence  - quite commendable skill but dangerous to the simple minded. I know he knows I know him beyond his nuggets. Reno will use "he's my friend" to dilute Peter.

Peter Obi is smart - but he tries to play the good man. That's a weakness. He needs to toughen up. He needs to get ready to lose some friends. He needs to focus on his support base and understand that those who claim to be his friend but doesn't support him are his frienemies. He can reconcile with them after the elections. But he must not allow old relationships to interfere with this mission. 

I speak from experience. 

When I led a fierce reformation movement against Religious falsehood, I INTENTIONALLY severed old relationships. I knew that they will come back when we establish the truth we needed to establish. And it happened as planned. But if I held on to those relationships then, I would still have lost some of them but worse still, I would have lost myself. 

Someone close to Peter Obi should tell him that this is no longer about him - this has turned into a revolutionary movement to save Nigeria. 

He needs to toughen up. Reno is not his friend. Reno is Atiku's boy for now until Jonathan comes on board then the other side of Reno nobody knows will be revealed. 

Don't let empty nuggets deceive you and make you scream WISDOM where there's only manipulation. Stay focused on the goal - a new Nigeria. We miss it this time, we miss it for another 16 years. 

Someone close to Peter Obi should read this out to him.

Recall That during the week, popular skit maker Isaac Aloma, aka Zicaloma, was accused of demanding for sex from male ‘actors’ he uses in his skits before working with them.

However, in an interview with Sunday Scoop, the comedian stated that the story was a mere fabrication. He said, “I really don’t want to talk about these things. I have been told that if people don’t talk about one, it means one is really not doing well. I don’t blame any blog for writing whatever they want; I blame people who give them audience, because they are just looking for ways to drive traffic to their blogs. I am not clearing any air. People can believe whatever they want to believe”

Aloma, who is a former lecturer, also stated that anybody who claims that he demanded sex from them should speak out. He added, “The best thing is for you to watch my skits. Anybody that looks like an up-and-coming comedian should be asked what they did for me to feature them. Everyone that becomes successful, most pass through a channel. I became successful because I put in hard work. I shot content for years without being recognised until it got to a point when I was recognised by people and my content started going viral.

“I work with anybody who I feel can deliver. I shoot most of my contents with celebrities. That does not negate the fact that I can work with someone who has just 20 followers. I don’t compromise my content for anything. Some people offer me money to feature in my skits but I tell them ‘no’ because I don’t like their acting.”

The skit maker also stated that he will not press charges against the blogger because the person is ‘anonymous’.

Late Osinachi Nwachukwu's husband,Peter Nwachukwu, reportedly sentenced to death by hanging.

According to an online source, the Federal Government has filed 23-count charges against Peter Nwachukwu, husband of late popular gospel artist, Osinachi, who died on April 8 after he allegedly assaulted her.

He was charged under sections 104 and 379 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, by the Attorney-General of the Federation. 

The defendant was charged with culpable homicide contrary to section 221 of the Penal Code which is punishable with death by hanging.

Note: No official statement has been made regarding the verdict.

NYSC Denials Senator Oduah

 

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has said the former Aviation Minister and Senator representing Anambra North, Sen Stella Oduah have no NYSC certificate. 

Sen Stella Oduah would have just been using her WAEC  certificate instead of claiming what she did not have.

The NYSC director reported that she was mobilised for 1982/1983 service year and deployed to Lagos State but she absconded after camping and didn't complete her service year.

Usually NYSC only issues certificate to those who completed their service year.

Oduah's name wasn't found amongst those issued certificates within the said period even though she claimed it was misplaced.

Rochas Okorocha Arrested By EFCC

 

EFCC operatives has arrested Ex-Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha in the early hours of today May 24 at about 6:30pm.

The senator was arrested after the security operatives fired teargas to disperse protesters who do not want his arrest.

The Senator was spotted in a video inside his mansion saying "EFCC security agency has invaded my house breaking and shooting my bullet proof doors"

Okorocha was later whisked into a while Hilux vehicle after the siege which started since 11:30am today.

William Uwujaren, an EFCC spokesperson stated that, Okorocha jumped the administrative bail and resisted been served court papers for his corruption trial allegedly stealing public funds while he was Imo state Governor.

The case was assigned to Honourable Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal high court Abuja but arraigned Senator Okorocha was twice stalled owing to his absence. At the last adjournment date March 28 2022 to May 30th the justice warned that that will be the last adjournment he will grant on the matter.

The commission was left with no choice than the siege to make sure he appears.

How can we keep complaining when we are the architects of own problem? Abacha’s loots are continuously recovered in millions of dollars yet there’s no improvement in the economy. The bottom line is, we are GREEDY.

Sanwo-Olu Bans Motorcycle in Six Local Government

 

The executive Governor of Lagos state Babajide Sanowo-olu had banned commercial motorcycles popularly called okada in six local governments in Lagos State.

Sanwoolu gave this order on Wednesday while speaking with police divisional Officers and area commandants.

Sanwoolu announced a total ban and asked that it take effects in six local governments in Lagos State,effective from June 1st 2022, The affected local governments are IKEJA, SURULERE, ETI OSA, LAGOS MAINLAND, LAGOS ISLAND and APAPA.

Nyako turned to Kanu saying despite her orders for him to change his clothes the IPOB leader continued to put on the same Fendi designers' wear.

The judge then told the SSS legal director who was in court to allow Kanu watch Matches of his favorite club.

The SSS official, however said his office has always given him the access to watch television.

Another Loss in Nollywood

 

The Nollywood actor Leo Mezie has been battling Kidney disease for a while now. However, he had a transplant last week but later developed complications which lead to his death on Saturday.

His colleague,Chioma Toplis Announced his passing on social media this afternoon.

"Actor Leo Mezie is dead,He died in Abuja on Saturday 14th May while recovering from kidney transplant. His corpse has been moved to Umuahia his hometown RIP Leo" she posted.

May his soul rest in peace (Amen).

Why We Demolished Kpokpogri's House-FCTA

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has revealed why a building owned by Tonto Dikeh's ex-boyfriend, Joseph Egbri, popularly known as Kpokpogri, was demolished this morning May 14.

In an interview with Punch, an aide to the FCT Minister stated that Kpokpogri’s house was demolished because it was built on a major highway.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Monitoring, Inspection, and Entrustment, Attah Ikharo, said the building didn’t get approval from the necessary agencies.

“His house is on a super highway known as M-16. He doesn’t even have a building plan approval. It’s like somebody who knows that the highway is coming sold the land to him and he just went to build. We have been asking him to stop but he refused.”

Debunking Kpokpogri’s claim, the minister’s aide noted that he was warned against building on the land but he refused.

“In Abuja, before you build, you must get building plan approval. There was no approval at all for him. The place was initially allocated to somebody long ago. So I think the person now sold it to somebody who then sold it to him. When he discovered that it was a road, He didn’t stop but kept rushing the building. The whole building was built in less than a year.

The Federal Housing Authority Managing Director came here twice this week. The MD came the day before yesterday (Thursday) that they didn’t give him approval and the building was illegally constructed.

The FCDA Executive Secretary also came, adding that it was illegally constructed. We came here twice this week asking him to vacate because of the super highway.”Ikharo said

He added that the only impediment on the highway which began from Guzape 2 was Kpokpogri’s house, stating that in three months time, the road work will commence on the land.

Mohammad Sani,who is the personal assistant to the Sokoto Finance Commissioner has asserted that Deborah was brutally murdered because she was careless with her tongue.

"Muslims don't take insults against their beloved prophet in whatever form" he warned

Justifying the gruesome murder of the Christian student, Mr Sani said;

"The earlier our Christian Brothers and sisters understands this the better for them,May the recklessness of our tongue not drive us to an early grave"

The so called Sokoto government's aide doubled down on Friday morning censuring those outraged by the murder of the Christian student.

"We have a life to live and enjoy,we can make noise on Twitter and condemn the mob action but that can't bring Deborah back to life,and if anyone repeats it tomorrow the probability of serving such person same meal is 99.9%"Sani declared.

Atiku Abubakar has deleted posts he shared on his Facebook and Twitter pages about the Christian girl Deborah Samuel Yakubu who was killed by some Muslims over alleged blasphemy of the holy prophet at the Shehu Shagari College of Education Sokoto state.

The Politician who shared the post at 10:20pm on Thursday deleted it in less than an hour,after the threatened reply from some northerners not to vote or support him in the forth coming election.

Sokoto state closes down Shehu Shagari College of Education over the death of one Deborah Yakubu a student of the reputable school.

She lost her life and there has been heavy security in the school as students has been asked to go home while Investigations to find her killers goes on.

One Sokoto based journalist has confirmed that the whole problem started immediately the voice note of the deceased was released on a WhatsApp group,it was said that the voice note contained "blasphamy"  words against the holy prophet of the Quran which is said to have gone viral, the journalist stated.

It isn't clear exactly what she said in the voice note. This subject matter has become a viral conversation with outrage and reactions across Nigeria.

Sokoto state police command has started investigating the killing of Deborah Yakubu,who was a 200 level Economics student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education.

ASP Abubakar said they are yet to find out the real source of everything on ground.

"Investigations are still ongoing"..he added.

OAU Students Prays On The Road

 

The protesting students of Obafemi Awolowo University of Ile-Ife Osun state,denied leaving the roadblock for the mosque as the Muslim students were seen observing their prayers on the express road.

This happened as members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities including the Chairman of OAU chapter, Dr.Adeola Egbedokun joined them in the protest.

When addressing the press men the lecturer noted that what the students were doing was quiet logical and right, adding that amidst the strike they would have ventured into hooliganism or all sort of immoral acts but they choose to do better than that.

The Chairman also noted that their expectations is for the Federal Government to do what is right and listen to them.

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, @hmsundaydare on Thursday visited the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) TV and radio studios at the NYSC headquarters, lauding the management for achieving a major feat in the annals of the scheme. 

Speaking as a guest on NYSC radio, 88.3fm, the Minister asserted that the power of communication cannot be overemphasised. 

In an era of unregulated social media journalism, we should all be worried about fake news. “With the danger posed by misinformation and miscommunication, credible outlets like the NYSC TV and radio is poised to bridge the gap, and be a reliable source of authentic information for the Youth and the society at large."

@hmsundaydare expressed satisfaction that the media outlet was commissioned by Gen. Yakubu Gowon, whose brain-child as former Head of state, the NYSC scheme was. "It is gratifying that the visionary behind the establishment of the NYSC scheme, Gen. Yakubu Gowon was the one that commissioned the TV and radio station. It is just enough for me that the man that had the vision was here to see that vision blossom, and grow into what it is, right now," the Minister enthused.

As the first youth-based broadcast station, the Minister affirmed that activities of the NYSC across the country, unique information about youth development and giant strides of the youth in various sectors of Nigeria's socio-economic life will form the core of broadcast programmes.

 "I want to call on all Youth to devote 20 or 30 mins daily, or when you are driving, let it be on NYSC radio and you can also participate in interactive call in programmes. The youth needs to own this radio, the content will come from both sides. It will come from presenters at the studio and from youth who will come in and participate in your programmes. There is what they call selective listening or selective auditioning. That's the power every individual has to select the kind of information or content they want.

 Canada based singer Stephanie Otobo has again slammed Apostle Johnson Suleman of the Omega Fire Ministry Worldwide accusing the cleric of poisoning and trying to kill her.

In a series of tweets,The singer shared screenshots of their video chats as she rolled out allegations against the cleric.

Otobo and Suleman were first in the news in 2017 where the singer sued the preacher for assault and sexual harassment.

ASUU Extends Strike By 12weeks

 

‼️The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) early Monday morning extended the ongoing strike by 12 weeks.

 The decision was taken at an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) held at ASUU Secretariat in Abuja.``` 

 

 *The two month rollover strike declared in March 14, 2022 by ASUU ended today (May 9th), thus NEC felt the need to extend it by 12 weeks after initial agitation for indefinite strike because of failure to address the issues in contention.
